Veneer prices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Veneers are priced per tooth, which makes the headline number look small and the finished treatment look expensive. Here is what is published for each material.

Information only, not medical advice. Prices vary between clinics and between patients. Confirm any treatment, and its price, with a licensed dentist before you decide.

A porcelain veneer is published at AED 1,500 to 5,000 per tooth in Dubai, typically AED 2,800, and at AED 1,300 to 4,500 per tooth in Abu Dhabi. Composite veneers in Dubai are published lower, at AED 800 to 1,500 per tooth.

Per tooth is the phrase to hold on to. Most people asking about veneers are picturing the front six, eight or ten teeth. At the typical Dubai porcelain price, eight teeth is AED 22,400, and that is before anything the dentist finds once treatment starts.

Why is composite so much cheaper?

The two materials are handled differently. Composite is built up on the tooth directly, so the work happens in the clinic. Porcelain is made in a dental laboratory and fitted afterwards, which adds laboratory cost and a second visit. That difference, not a difference in the dentist, is most of the price gap.

Longevity claims are where veneer marketing gets loud. We are not going to repeat any of them here, because the lifespan of a veneer depends on the tooth, the bite and the person. Ask your dentist what they expect in your case and what a replacement would cost.

How is a veneer different from a crown?

A veneer covers the front surface of a tooth. A crown covers the whole visible tooth. The two are priced differently for that reason, and a crown in Dubai is published at a lower range than a porcelain veneer at the top end.

Does insurance cover veneers?

Not under Dubai's minimum plan. The Essential Benefits Plan's exclusions state that cosmetic healthcare services are excluded, and veneers are usually placed for appearance. If your dentist says your case is restorative rather than cosmetic, get that in writing and put it to your insurer before treatment, not after.

Before you commit

  • Ask for the price per tooth and the price for the full plan you are considering.
  • Ask whether the quote includes the temporary set, if your treatment needs one.
  • Ask what happens, and what it costs, if one veneer chips in a year.
  • Ask whether any tooth preparation is permanent.
