Dental crown prices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

A crown is the quiet middle of dental pricing: more than a filling, far less than an implant. Here is the published range in each city and where it sits in your policy.

A dental crown is published at AED 1,000 to 4,000 in Dubai, typically AED 2,000, and at AED 900 to 3,500 in Abu Dhabi, typically AED 1,800. Abu Dhabi is published lower at both ends of the range.

The difference between the cities is real but modest: about AED 200 at the typical price. It is not a reason on its own to drive to another emirate, particularly once you count the return visits a crown usually needs.

What moves a crown quote up or down?

Material is the usual answer. Crowns are made in several materials, and the published range is wide enough to hold all of them. The second answer is what has to happen to the tooth first. A crown often follows other work, and that work is priced separately, so a quote that looks high may simply be covering more than a crown.

Ask the clinic to itemise the crown, any preparation, and any temporary crown you wear while the permanent one is made. Two quotes only become comparable once you can see those lines side by side.

Crown or veneer?

That is a clinical decision, not a price decision, and your dentist makes it. The distinction is worth knowing anyway, because the two often appear on the same treatment plan.

Veneer compared with crown Two front teeth drawn side-on. On the left, a veneer: a thin shell, highlighted, covering only the front surface of the tooth. On the right, a crown: a cap, highlighted, covering the whole visible part of the tooth. Veneer a thin shell on the front surface Crown a cap over the whole visible tooth
Simplified drawing, not to scale. Your dentist decides which, if either, suits your tooth.

A veneer covers the front surface of the tooth. A crown covers the whole visible tooth. At the top of the published ranges, a porcelain veneer in Dubai reaches AED 1,500 to 5,000 per tooth, higher than a crown.

Does the basic plan in Dubai pay for a crown?

Crowns are not among the dental services the Essential Benefits Plan lists, and the plan's exclusions state that dental prostheses and orthodontic treatments are excluded. Whether your crown is treated as a prosthesis is a question for your insurer, so ask before the work starts. Where a crown follows root canal treatment, the root canal itself is on the covered list, within the plan's up to AED 500 dental limit.
